Well, today I got to totally wing a Kings Kidz class! I was scheduled to sit in and be shown the ropes, but the teachers didn't show up. So myself and a lady from the church had the privilege of talking to the children about the fruits of the spirit. I obviously wasn't prepared to teach a half hour class to ten children, but we got along just fine! It was really neat, as I relied on the Holy Spirit to help me show the children how He could work in their lives.
This week I've had a lot of opportunity to practice teaching and speaking to small groups of children. I've seen a lot of answers to quick prayers, as I pray for patience, for the right words to say, or for the attentiveness of the children. There are a couple of children from some confusing but clearly troubling backgrounds that I've been praying earnestly for. I'm praying that somehow we will have the opportunity to reach out to their parents, especially one boy who comes and goes every Friday on a bicycle, and two girls who's mother refuses to pick them up in the church parking lot.
I am so confident that I will see God working in some pretty cool ways in this group of kids.

*phew*
Well, it's been a busy week!
I've been serving as a member of the crew on a SALTS ship, which is basically a 111' tall ship (lots of masts and sails and such). It's a Christian group that does its' ministry while training people how to sail on board a large vessel. It was really exciting as we sailed in amongst the Gulf Islands and into the Pacific Ocean.
God's really been teaching me about His great love and majesty. He showed me a little piece of that in a beautiful display on Thursday evening. There was the most beautiful sunset I've ever seen on one horizon, and two complete rainbows on the other. Enjoying a quiet moment while I soaked in the glory of His creation was probably the highlight of my time here in BC thus far. I'm learning a lot about slowing down and appreciating my surroundings (people, pretty sunsets, etc), and really plugging in to what God wants to teach me while I'm here. Doing the pre-course assignments and reading has really helped me focus on moving forward in my relationship with Jesus.
This past Friday night we had our first Youth Group meeting, which had a Fear Factor theme! I had the privilege of sharing with them from Matthew about Peter stepping out of the boat to walk on water, and how they too can trust Jesus absolutely, even in impossible situations. Next week we're taking them to Victoria for the Camp Qwanoes Road Tour, which is a big youth event. We also have ice skating, a games night, and a movie night in the works! The kids are excited, and so am I. I know God has good things in store for this group.
Today I got to volunteer in the kitchen here at Qwanoes as a rental group came through. I got to put my expert skills at cookie baking and pasta boiling to work! It's easy to stay busy when going to school at camp, that's for sure. Our first set of classes on Spiritual Formation begin on Monday, and we'll be in class from roughly 9-5 every day. It should be grueling, but incredibly rewarding at the same time. Prayers are appreciated, that I will stay focused and that my heart will be ready to learn and to be transformed!

Trinity Western and such
Hello!
I've been quite busy since my last post! Friday night we had a planning meeting to prepare for the upcoming events in the children's ministry, both with youth group and with King's Kids (Sunday School). I attended church today and got to know some of the boys a little better, and this afternoon I called a list of all the kids who were in attendance last year to let them know about the great events we have coming up!
In addition to all that, I've been helping out with the rental group of over three hundred students from Trinity Western University. I got to hang out and meet some neat students while getting boats for them at the waterfront and directing them when I found I could answer their questions.
I'm having a lot of fun out here, and I'm learning lots. Good times, all around.

Hey there folks...
So here I am with my first ever post! wahoo. It's been a crazy first week out here in the wild wild west. People talk differently, and they don't switch lanes to let others merge in traffic. however, despite the questionable driving, they're really really nice!
I'm in a room with three other guys from across Canada, and we have a view of he ocean! We just got back from enjoying the beauty of God's creation in a three day hike up Mt Albert-Edward, at an elevation of like 6000'. Crazy good times, and very challenging!
Also, I've been paired up with a local church (Ladysmith Baptist) along with two other Kaleo students. We'll be responsible for assisting in running their Sunday School (called King's Klub), and completely responsible for their Friday Night Youth program! Pray for God's guidance and blessing on this new ministry, and that He would do some awesome work in the community of Ladysmith. You could also keep in prayer me and the 25 other Kaleo students as we dig in and start cracking the books in preparation for our first course on Spiritual Formation.
